State of the Game: Try for FREE!

Free Trial:

Starting on March 1st, at Noon CST, we will launch our free trial for Embers Adrift! Our game will be open for all to try without having to purchase it first. This will give players a chance to see how they like our game and the opportunity to then support our indie dev team by purchasing the game and activating the optional subscription. To celebrate we will be hosting some special streams and events starting Friday, March 1st at 1pm CST and more throughout the weekend.

While cash shops and pay-to-win tactics make companies a lot of money, we still don’t believe they are a net positive for MMOs in general and refuse to put them into our game, even with a free trial! Players will have full access to 3 areas: Newhaven Valley, our first dungeon - Central Veins 1, and Newhaven City. There are multiple quests, solo and group content, tasks, lore discoveries, bosses, and rare items to hunt in these areas and we are happy to invite all MMORPG players to come and check out Embers Adrift to find out if it is a game they can call home! More info can be found about the details of our free trial in the patch notes linked below.

If this is the first time you’re hearing about Embers Adrift it is a challenge-driven MMORPG where players can experience over 1000 hours of entertainment on a single character. With quests that have multiple outcomes, hundreds of rare mobs and thousands of rare/quest items, and a steady stream of new content coming out on a steady schedule. It’s never been easier to find long-term entertainment at a great price.
You can support us by buying the game HERE for yourself or for a friend, and maintaining our optional subscription as time goes on. You can also purchase a month of subscription perks for your friends who may not have an active subscription. We also have a MERCH SHOP and a SOUNDTRACK if you'd like to support us in other ways.

As a small company trying to go against the grain by not focusing on maximum monetization of our player-base we want to say a huge thank you to our subscribers, your support is very much appreciated!

New Stuff:

Along with all the work required to create the free trial we’ve added a lot of new stuff to the game to improve player experience. Let’s dive in.

If you recall we greatly improved the solo experience by adding bulletin boards to the game. These give experience and a health regen buff as a reward whereas quests that often require groups give valuable items. With this patch, in direct response to player feedback, we’ve greatly reduced many of the kill counts required for the hunting tasks found on our solo bulletin boards and we’ve added non-kill “commission” tasks that simply require you to explore a location, do an emote somewhere, or trigger a buff or debuff on your character (for example, run through a haystack triggering the “Itchy” debuff or run through sticky spider webs. All these reward experience as well. Have fun!

Substantial improvements have been made to how Mobs move around making it easier to track their movements during combat. This includes target reticles that scale with the size of mobs.

Lock buttons have been added to several UI elements along with numerous other UI improvements.

Players will be happy to know that visuals on rare and imbued crossbows have been updated.

We’ve, yet again, reduced experience requirements. This time for levels 1-5, making the initial gameplay experience less tedious and more rewarding.

We have increased the drop rate of many rare items and several others. We have also done much of the item categorization that was listed on the roadmap. Players can now see the relative power of items in the following order: Basic (white), Advanced (green), Superior / Imbued (teal), Relic (purple), Mythic (pink), and Legendary (orange). Some items found anywhere within the above item power progression, but didn’t fit neatly into the parameters are labeled as Legacy (gold). These are often, but not always more powerful items. This improvement comes with items having a highlighting color. Your inventory will now be aglow with all the different colors of these tiers of items.

Players will be happy to know that we have added 5 new behavioral status effect VFX to hover over enemy heads. Confused, Enraged, Stunned, Dazed, and Lulled mobs now each have uniquely colored VFX above their heads making it easier to know what condition they are in. Check out the patch notes for Feb. 27th to see a GIF showing these VFX.

Finally, we have added a brand new solo area in the Noxious Bog Ember Vein found in the Meadowlands. Solo players rejoice!

You can find the patch notes HERE. Go check out Elloa’s trailer for this patch, too, and give it a like and subscribe.

As we iterate from patch to patch, adjusting current content and adding new content, we are asking our community to keep the feedback coming and to please be patient with us as we make adjustments. Thank you all!
