The simple act of sheathing a weapon and other feedback

I'm probably missing something but I have to sheath my weapon after every encounter. Wouldn't bother me much but I move slower with my sword out. I think I'd prefer if my character sheathed their weapon when they exit combat or if having the weapon out didn't result in the slower movement.

I see another post about not sheathing their weapons when skinning. I noticed that when i have my sword and board out i can sheath and see the dagger as I'm skinning but if I have my 2handed hammer out then i do weird things as I skin. I'm assuming that's sort of half working?

While I'm on the subject of feedback here's some random other bits:

I was confused when i had 3 abilities on my bar but could only use 1 when i started my character. I'd prefer not to see abilities on my bar that I can't use yet.

I got some kind of salve from mobs. The tooltip suggests it adds 2 dmg but i couldn't figure out how to use it or apply it and i can't find any direction on how to go about it.

When will there be NPCs? it's really weird not seeing any or buying things from a scroll on a table. There are 2 NPCs at the very beginning. More of those would be nice. Yes there's guards but that's not the same.

I started playing a defender and ran around selectively killing the white chevron mobs outside the first ember ring. After hitting level 2 i decided to roll a support but when i logged in i could not find anymore white chevron mobs. Everything was yellow. Are the level of spawns not fixed? Did i kill all the level 1 mobs, leaving them all to unfortunately spawn as level 2?

Is there a way to loot everything from a corpse? like shift click the mob to loot everything off it?

My defender has some really weird animation when moving into combat while unsheathing my weapon if I'm using a 2hander. 1 hander and shield looks fine.

That's all for now: back to killing stuff.

Decided to play around with the harvesting mechanic. Goin around prospecting copper nodes. Realized that having high foliage density is detrimental to seeing these things. That's kind of disappointing. I'd like to keep the visuals cranked up without compromising my ability to find these things. maybe highlight them when i get close?

Prospected enough to where my pickaxe broke. and now it's gone. I found a short guide here and it appears i need to find a tool rack so i can buy another. Someone suggested there was one near the gates in Souther Newhaven but i could not find it. Suggestion: i think all of this could have been resolved if i'd just been left with a broken pick axe to repair rather than having it vanish from my inventory like that. I did find an anvil quite easily.

Thanks for the feedback! We really appreciate you taking the time to provide this all.

I'm probably missing something but I have to sheath my weapon after every encounter. Wouldn't bother me much but I move slower with my sword out. I think I'd prefer if my character sheathed their weapon when they exit combat or if having the weapon out didn't result in the slower movement.

It is as intended, you didn't miss anything. As for auto-resheathing your weapon it's impossible to know what the player's intentions are, especially since having your weapons out changes defensive values (shield bonus, active defenses like dodge/parry, etc.) as well as your movement speed so that control is left up to the player.

I was confused when i had 3 abilities on my bar but could only use 1 when i started my character. I'd prefer not to see abilities on my bar that I can't use yet.

Yea we recently completed our notification system so we can start hiding these and notifying players via that system that new skills are available to put on your bar. Thanks for the reminder!

I got some kind of salve from mobs. The tooltip suggests it adds 2 dmg but i couldn't figure out how to use it or apply it and i can't find any direction on how to go about it.

These are reagents, they augment certain abilities. Where your consumables pouch is a button to the left which swaps between the consumables pouch and reagent pouch. Reagents in your reagent pouch are used on ability use if the checkbox is checked for that slot. If an ability has reagents augmenting it there will be a number on the ability icon showing how many uses of the reagent are left. There's a lot of tutorial work around these still in terms of teaching how to use them.

When will there be NPCs? it's really weird not seeing any or buying things from a scroll on a table. There are 2 NPCs at the very beginning. More of those would be nice. Yes there's guards but that's not the same.

Soon (tm)

Currently yes, its a mix of lvl 1-2. This hasn't been revisited since we updated the level difference difficulty and restricted the con system (these both used to be white). I think its reasonable that these should all be level 1 at least directly near that first camp, ill update this.

Is there a way to loot everything from a corpse? like shift click the mob to loot everything off it?

Not yet.

I'd like to keep the visuals cranked up without compromising my ability to find these things. maybe highlight them when i get close?

yea I would like to see something subtle, because I don't want players chasing sparkles across the map. Ideally only those players with that profession would see whatever effect is displayed.

Suggestion: i think all of this could have been resolved if i'd just been left with a broken pick axe to repair rather than having it vanish from my inventory like that. I did find an anvil quite easily.

This should be fixed in the coming weeks, those will be unusable but still repairable instead of breaking.
