Since last patch the list isn't correctly sorted by level anymore, but my own character is always at the top or bottom of the list - at the opposite end of where it should be.
mine has always done this, I got used to it, in fact I think it might be a design feature, kinda like you don't want to see you anyhow so put you last kind of thing?
