Skinning Mob with no loot

If the mob has no loot we should just be able to skin it for resources without having to open up a loot window first
Loot is generated at the time of loot so it would be impossible for the server to know if something had or did not have loot until someone attempted to loot it. Previously this wasn't an issue because currency was always distributed. But now that animals are not dropping currency we may have to revisit this. However, I'm not a fan of generating loot on things that may not be looted as that's a waste of server resources / performance.

Seems complicated.
I cant remember having this issue with other mmos.
Not sure how they do it but if a mob has no loot we should just be able to skin it instead of opening an empty box before hand.
It is tedious

I'm not disagreeing - just giving some insight into why it's a bit more complex than it may seem at first glance.

I understand having to click on the dead mob to see if it has any loot on not, but what about auto-closing the loot window if there is no loot. That would be much like looting in a group with everyone set to Greed and/or Need. The loot window closes down very quickly.

If you just press w, it will move you and close the window. There is no need to click the x on the box.

The bigger issue to me is when you have a piece of vendor loot on an animal and if someone in the group doesn't roll on it and let's the timer tick down all the way, you can't skin it until then. By then your group is off to the next mob and you have to make a choice, xp or skin.

I just tend to skin solo to avoid this.

Understood and that's what I do, but it's still another key stroke (W, S, A, or D to move), mouse click (close the window), or L R simultaneous mouse click (to move). Since my fingers are on the L and R mouse buttons, I usually move forward a tiny bit. One can also hit the ESC key.

I concur with Suntali. The ideal would be to 1) loot 2a) if no loot, auto-suppress window (Perhaps just show a message in the system window). 2b) if loot, show window. This would save the user an extra action prior to skinning. @Undone : Is the client UI loot window coupled to the server loot fetch mechanic in such a way that it cannot be interrupted (window suppressed post fetch as indicated above) ?

Yes. This is the worst!!

Unfortunately, due to the way interactions work we can only have one interaction at any given time so you should yell at your group mates to turn on auto-greed if they're not participating in rolls quick enough.

What would be a nice feature to have for skinning is being able to drag an item that the creature dropped out of its inventory box. Just like you do in your bag when you want to destroy something.

Seeing as of right now we have such limited space, our bags get full very quick. Since the change of the bank slot size I now usually have around 6 or 7 free slots when out adventuring. Trying to skin a mob when your bags are full and you have no room to move the item a creature drops so you can clear the inv window to be able to skin it is really a pain. I'm finding myself having to decide what I want to destroy in my bag to make room for one slot so I can remove the dropped item so I can skin the mob.

Please make the mobs inventory window work just like your bag being able to drag things out of it to destroy them.
