Hallo!
For now, we do have 1 weekly test on Thursday at 3 am CET (Wednesday evening for NA). It is absolutely not ideal! Believe me, I know! ;)
However, as our development progress, we have time to time some weekend test.
We are planning to have the servers open during the Holidays, I'm not sure yet about the date. Keep an eye, we will announce it in time!

Hallo!

Hey! I totally understand you. As European myself, and needing to work during the night, I'm in a good place to share your annoyance. We did implemented for a while an additional test in EU peaktime, but for several reasons we had to stop them.
But rejoice, as we have another weekend planed for around the Hollidays and we will continue to have more and more weekends in future! That will accomodate all timezones, including NewZeeland and Australia.

Hallo!

Soon, we will have another weekend open, arround Christmas. Be looking forwards it! ;)

(used google translate so hopefully this answers your question!)
- server status can be seen on your My Account page.
- servers are open every Wednesday night @ 8pm US central time for approximately 4 hours.
- servers will be open more frequently for weekend tests as we move into 2022 - keep an eye on our social media, discord server, and the patch notes section of the forums for more information

Greetings! I've just discovered this game and, from what I've seen so far, really like the look of several aspects, character creation, lore, etc.
However, I am concerned that as a primarily solo player, I'm going to get stuck fairly quickly.

I'm mainly interested in exploring, hunting, simple crafting, and doing 'side-quests' in any game I play, with no real interest in end-game or pvp, I usually RP my character as a loner hunter/provider type, with no interest in politics, factions, or such, happy to make a simple living providing for my local town.

Before I commit, is this a game I'd fit in?

Hey hey!!
While Embers Adrift is aimed to be mostly a group oriented game, it quite fit what you describe.
We do not have PVP, nor a focus on endgame. Our game is all about the journey. Our world is vast and beautiful. Crafting is important, and will allow you to craft powerful equipment, that are generally better on what you can find on loot. We have not implemented our quest/lore yet. I can not wait to see what we can bring from a lore perspective and how our players will enjoy our stories!!
Now, the only aspect I would be cautious is combat. Our combat is truly shinning in a group composition as every role balance each other. This is something you will have to find out for yourself. think the specialisation Warden would fit you quite well!

So definitively, keep an eye on our game. ;)

Can we talk role play?

Storytelling is super important to me, and I am curious to know how RP will be integrated into the game.

Is RP something that will be encouraged in game by the players as well as the staff?
Will RP story arcs that characters make be able to integrate into the world?
Will there be the ability to do emotes, either custom or premade?
How does the chat work? Global? Region? Area? Party? Guild? Whispers?
How involved will the creative team be in RP, either by jumping in where players are doing it, to stir the pot as it were, or by creating/participating in events themselves?
Is storytelling about the world encouraged? (After release, of course.)
How easy will it be to customize our characters either via armor or clothing or dyes?
Are there different languages in the game?
Will there ever be opportunities to gain rare or unique abilities/spell or skills that you gain once certain parameters are met? (Example: a certain unique armor set (or sets) that can be gained only if the player has killed this particular boss x times in under x minutes or x times on x Mondays? (I ask this more about customization for RP vs. combat - two different reasons to hunt out monsters/gear/drops, in my opinion).
Pets? Mounts? Tameable wild critters?

I know that's a lot. And I apologize if much of this has been gone through - I'm fairly new here  so please forgive me.

Abbi, as much as I enjoy group play I mostly solo. I've played EA for about 3 weeks now and look forward to every test period. Currently the game allows you to create 3 characters. This seems well thought out because there are 3 of what I call Classes to choose from at character creation. Each character initially can learn one of 6 professions, 3 gathering and 3 crafting. Once you've skilled up a character's profession sufficiently that character can learn a second profession. So I have created 3 characters, one of each class, with 2 professions each covering all the classes and all the professions. This allows me to be completely autonomous if I choose, although this community is rather willing to help each other a LOT and it's infectious.

In many many MMOs I've soloed without major drawbacks. This game is no different. If you are cautious/patient, work the seams and edges of dangerous areas to gather crafting materials as well as kill mobs you'll be fine. All that said, a player can level a lot faster in a group. So far the players in this community are very kind, overwhelmingly generous, and willing to group up for the harder content and dangerous areas, areas with higher level mobs that are VERY difficult or not possible to defeat solo.

I hope I haven't violated the NDA with too many details. Cheers, Suntali

You can Tab target (my usual mechanic/technique), click to target (not as reliable in my experience), and I believe, but have not used or investigated, there is hot key targeting. There's a caveat though. You can have a mob targeted but you're not in combat until you switch to combat stance or attack with a special move/attack/spell. Hope that makes sense. It took a little getting used to, having to toggle combat stance. Out of combat stance you move at regular "run" speed. In combat stance you move and turn more slowly.

Hey hey Geekgirl,

As primarely inpired by DnD tabletop game, Roleplay is obviously something important to us.

What you will find in our game, is a very immersive world. No matter how much you choose to actively roleplay (speak in character, walk instead of running, imagining plots of your own) or not at all. you will be immersed in your very own journey. Features such as the dark night, and no mini map, or no quest markers, are aspect of the game that will plunge you into a story. Maybe that story is just that you got lost during the night and you struggle to find your way back to town. How much will you roleplay arround that is up to you. Maybe you will ask for some help in the OOC channel, or you will choose to use the /yell channel.
Characters are very highly customisable, as you can see in this Character Creator video on our Youtube (keep in mind that it's a prototype, and more options will be added) You can also edit your character as much as you want in the selection screen. You can use that option in a non immersive way or in an immersive way. Like you just gain a little weight, or get a fresh haircut.

We create the sandbox world, then it will be up to you to use it the way you want.

There is many different tools and ideas that we would like to add specifically for roleplayers. But we are still only a team of 11 devs. So, many of those ideas will be worked on post launch. For now we refine and polish the core game, and add content.
