Make chest good again.

Just wanted to say feel that you have gone to far the other way with the chest coin now! Think you need to go somewhere in the middle of where you are. Feels like coin wise we are getting a 1/4 of what we used to. Before it was to much and whilst I need to test more to see what other items are being revealed from them might be a bit to early. I will continue to search them out and give feedback. Thanks for making the balancing changes in advance.

I agree....I don't think drastic measures need to be taken, maybe just reduce the spawn timers, or move the pop location of them....because as Raven demonstrated last night, these chests will go on farm status for people....but if it's more sporadic in time, location, availability etc....is the way to go.

well, what level is Raven versus the areas he's farming chests from. More variables come into play then just where they pop. I don't think we should be measuring how effective something is against 1 person who is known to be very familiar with the game and maps vs the average player. Many of you have been playing for months and have forgotten what the new player experience is about. Low drops rates at low levels is normal. Having excess loot at lvl 10 could mean very excess loot at lvl 50 or very slim pickings at level 50. You have nothing really to spend money on. I've only once not had enough money to repair and that is because I abandoned my bag.

Good points. However I think farming chests will be an issue.

Maybe after you loot/open or are in a group that loot/opens a chest you can’t see that chest for an in-game week.

Chest drops, locations, rareness, etc is all something that will be continually tweaked from now until the end of time. Chests should be exciting, but not overly exciting unless you find a rare chest. Either way these little changes aren't going to make or break the game in the long run - especially once we get the key system in etc.

I want these chests to offer useful items, not just money. Some of that useful stuff can be converted into cash if you have no need for it.

Nothing wrong with a chest in the middle of no where having junk in it. It has junk because it's in the middle of nowhere. Somebody left it behind because it was their junk. Like ones at ruins and such. Maybe have like a 1% chance of having something valuable. This doesn't apply to chests that would be in guarded areas. Those would make sense to have something in them. Like a 30-50% chance of having one item valuable and a 5-10% chance of having something nice and maybe a 1% chance of having something "Epic" or "Unique".

I'd again say that the chests currently being found aren't in high level, high guarded areas. Lowering chest contents at low levels is going to make for some miserable content at high levels.

My feedback on keys is it's an added feature that's not needed. You require keys to open chests, what happens when a group gets a key, then breaks up before they locate a chest to use it on. One person reaps the rewards of the groups effort. Also, if you go with keys, will you have a skill that allows somebody to pick the lock? Will we be able to use Ember essence to "magically" open a lock? Lots of variables come in when you put keys in.

My key my loot! First to click it wins! (just kidding)

I have no concrete idea how these keys will be implemented/obtained/held/used so I will reserve my opinions until then. I am a bit leery of it though for sure.

If chest farming is a thing then as you go up in level there needs to be less of them in easily accessed areas, longer/more varied respawns. I like them to be more of a "stumble onto it" thing than something so common they are farmed.

This is what the testing phase is all about trying to get it close to being what folks are happy with. Like Ravenxxx I too know where many of the chest are as I have been in all the zones for a while now and am also lvl 15 on Madmedic so I am getting about a lot atm. I am sure that if Undone picks up the data on my toons he will see I have deep pockets from all the chest in all the zones. I do like how there are only a few rare items you see every now and then though. This also may need tweaking somewhat to certain areas to make them fun.

So the CHEST apparently are working as intended according to undone last time we discussed this. I'd like to point out that chest are now a complete waste of time and the fun and excitement of finding them has diminished for me at least. The level effects need changing on them to something like they used to be to reflect their dufficultness ie - 1 - 5 -11 - 19 -24 ectara. Then you need to scale them so that stuff in them is/has more value based on their level! If you are intending on keeping them as they are, though I doubt it. Then please turn them off or remove them. At the very least put some value back in them to promote looking for them. Group opens said chest after fighting hard mobs and all get an equal share of an amazing amount of 1s 75cp each REALLY that is pure rubbish!!!

I'm very confused by your feedback on this. What do you mean level effects need changing on them? What is chest difficulty, aren't they just sitting there? Scale their rewards based on their level? Chests don't have levels like mobs do. There used to be some required levels, but I believe those were disabled. The chests should have loot appropriate to where they are found, consumables and reagents, armor and weapons and chances at rares.

I made them a lot harder to find and I think its reasonable to go back to increase the rewards from them, we had reduced rewards because people were finding dozens of them too easily and have been waiting to see what feedback is on how often people are finding them.

Honestly, the chests seem fine to me. but I don't have a route set up to go farm "Chests". I never considered Chests farmable, just a bonus if a came across one. I would like to see chests more random. I don't know how easy that is, but having them spawn in the same static locations makes them easier to find and farm.

I'm with this. I guess for someone who found fun in farming chests, it might not be fun anymore. But for someone like me and 90% of the people playing, stumbling upon a random chest is still exciting. However, it was a bit aggravating to see people (groups) run past our group that is clearly working our way to a dead end chest location, so they could go get a chest because they know where it is and it's part of their farming run. Chests need to be randomized in location and times.

They are? They just don't despawn (because having it despawn just before you get to it would be an even worse feeling).
Haha, yes it would. But if it spawns in 1 location, that means it'll eventually spawn there again, right? They are on a cycle of set locations? Or are they actually random?

The locations are set for chests to avoid weird ass spawns, BUT there are many locations to a single chest meaning it will not always spawn in the same spot. Some chests have 10+ locations that it can randomly select.

The OP complained that chests don't feel like a reward. However, the OP is also one who knows many of the chest spawn locations. As Kittik pointed out, we had one of these chest spawn groups run past us while we were in CV. I won't name names, but they definitely know spawn locations. When we hollared about it in ooc they joked that they were lost. Perhaps a fix to the folks who just run through in order to snag chests is to make it so chests are unable to be interacted with if your group is in combat. This stops one guy from agroing everything and dragging it away while somebody else loots the chest.

While I can't speak with regard to how I feel about how rewarding chests are at low levels, as I haven't seen enough of them, I can say that there are problems with the chests as mentioned above. The reward vs our level seems fine to me. As I understand it there is a small chance for something nice to come from chests. You don't want every chest to have awesome loot in it. That takes away from the experience of discovering a chest.

I honestly see this as causing more problems than being a solution. There's no real way to police this type of behavior as chests have no "ownership" other than the person who loots it first. If someone wants to be a jerk and steal chests from groups working towards it I would imagine they would get a pretty negative reputation? I mean, I know that's not a "fix" for the problem, but in a social game like ours we can't fix all types of griefing.
