Launcher stuck on checking local files

Trying to download EA on a 15" 2018 MacBook Pro and the launcher never goes past the 'Checking local files' point. Tried extracting it from both Downloads and Applications folder based on this thread:

I'm trying this at work so it could be a network thing but wanted to check to see if there's something easy I'm missing before trying to sneak around our firewall

Looks like you are running on MacOS? If so you probably need to move the launcher outside of the Downloads folder into your Applications folder. That typically fixes it for most macOS users.

@Dalton how did you not catch that?! :)

I've tried extracted the launcher from Downloads and applications folders from the first post I found in troubleshooting. And since my original post have tried desktop and even the root of C: but all with same results as first pic.

Relaunch as admin and ensure anti-virus not having its way with it.
Is there a way to launch the app at a higher level than the root admin on a mac? Uninstalled antivirus as well but no changes.

I'm going to find our outside line and see if bypassing our firewall does anything. The text implies it's checking local data though so I can't imagine it's a network thing

99% of the time it's some quirky permissions issue. On MacOS anyone who has had this problem moved the launcher to their Applications folder and it started working as expected.

Fixed it by moving the launcher itself to applications folder after extracting. I was moving the zip file to applications and extracting from there

Thank You!

I only view thumbnails lol. Probably should have a small notepad file that downloads with the launcher with instructions / common issue fixes for both windows and Mac.
