is this a bug?

Description
Sometimes left clicking an item in the loot window on accident and then right clicking it to actually loot it will cause a "ghost" version to remain in the loot window for subsequent loots.

Steps To Reproduce
Easiest way to reproduce it is with the gathering skills, particularly skinning but I have done it when going between nodes on forestry and I assume it would be the same for prospecting.
1. Kill a Shoat until it drops loot.
2. Open the loot window via right clicking the shoat corpse.
3. Left click the item available in the loot window then right click it.
4. Skin the Shoat.
5. In the loot window you should see a Ghost version of the looted item you left clicked behind the item you received from skinning,

Software Version/Type
This was on WIN_QA_b521_8.5.2022 but I did run into it while going between forestry nodes, logs and mushrooms, prior to this.

Screenshots
As you can see in the screenshot below it shows two items on the first slot. A Cracked Boar Tusk and a Tiny Deer Hoof. The Cracked Boar Tusk is stuck in the background there.

I've been trying to find repro steps for quite some time so thank you. When you say you left click, and then right click - what do you mean exactly? Is this clicking in quick succession? Thanks for the detailed report!

Speed doesn't seem to matter in my small tests, just left clicking to give it the blue highlight surrounding its square is enough.

I'm actually having trouble reproducing it right now using forestry. So I guess reproduction will be pretty inconsistent unfortunately.

gotcha. let me know what you find. curious what is typically the item in the background...was it from the last loot? was it the last item you transferred to a diff bag? etc.

It's usually just one of the items that I loot off a corpse or a gathering node. The first time I ran into it, it was Penny Bun Mushroom that was just permanently in that first slot hiding behind any other item that appeared on subsequent loot attempts regardless of that loot attempt being gathering or drops from a mob.

The second time was in my screenshot above. You can see it was just a drop from a Shoat, the Cracked Boar Tusk, and it just got stuck there.

It seems whatever glitch that causes the item to stay selected, have the blue border around its square, is what causes this because the client thinks you still have the item selected and keeps its slightly transparent version in the background.

All of this being said though I still wasn't able to reproduce it again after I had lunch yesterday even though I could consistently cause it to happen and even switch what item was ghosted when I initially made this post. I am hoping I can make it happen this afternoon when I play next.

Just to update, I haven't been able to reproduce this since the original post. Either it is extremely circumstantial in what causes it and I was just unlucky that day or it's fixed itself somehow. Can probably close the issue unless someone else can reproduce on the current game version reliably.

This issue has been haunting me for months :(

I've had it a few times, both from mob and tradeskill windows, once even on a player-to-player trade window. I've noticed it most frequently when an item is shown in a loot window, but you don't loot it, then you open a new loot window for a different mob, while the original source of the loot window is still present. For example, kill a mob, right click it, but then open a different loot window (by mining a nearby node or looting a different corpse) without closing the original loot window. It's somewhat inconsistent, but I'll actively look for ways to recreate it next chance I have to play.

Reproduction steps:
- Open a remote container (any type, loot or tradeskill)
- left-click the item to put it on your cursor, but don't put it into your bag
- close the loot window by moving with the item still on your cursor
- the item will be shown behind future loot in remote containers.

You are my hero. I was finally able to repro this!

Yeah that is how I’ve always made it happen too. So definitely wasn’t just me then doing it this way.
