This is probably going to annoy some people, but I am not trying to rile anyone up on purpose.
On Wednesday night, I grinded killing mobs for about 3 and a half hours and got 1 level on my defender. I killed a little over 100 mobs. I got zero gear or weapon drops... because I was mostly fighting non humanoid mobs.
The current way that gear drops and how crappy crafted gear has become is going to funnel everyone, everyone into two or three spot per zone. That may be ok with a couple dozen players but not a couple hundred.
I suggest you could add more humanoid mobs (one chev) throughout the zone. Maybe small camps of one to three mobs sprinkled around zone (like thieves at night in SNH - but with gear drops that were taken away), so your not forced to go to an exile camp for gear.
I would prefer you give drops back to non humanoid mobs like before. I thinks its a really silly argument to say its not realistic for animals to drop gear. Not Realistic lol, what in this game is realistic? What is realistic about the tab targeting, the armor and gear, what is realistic about the weapons and damage, the food and the regen, what is realistic about the mobs, the ember fires...? Its subjective, and it never bothered me that I got coin off a deer. In fact, I appreciated it. Character development is a big part of my draw to mmorpgs and loot is a part of that.
If you spread the drops out then we won't all be funneled into the same camp, killing the same mobs. You could vary the type of gear, like emberflies drop shields - just an ex. Otherwise the zone may change but it will be straight to the exile camp regardless, just a new camp-same mobs, every ten levels.
