Embers Adrift is celebrating 2 years of release, and during those 2 years, our little team has been hard working to improve, polish, correct and add new content to the game.
We have collected and listened carefully to the feedback of our community and we did our best to find solutions whenever it was needed.
(That does not mean we added everything the community wanted. But we listened and discussed everything)
If you have not played the game for a while you may wonder, what’s new? What has changed? In this thread I will share the most important changes and additions to the game, followed by a complete list of everything added classified by categories. This will give you an indication of the relevant patch notes to read if you want more details about a specific item of this list.
MONETISATION
We started as a buy to play game with a monthly subscription.
- We are now a buy to play game (19.99 $ + 2 weeks subscriptions, taxes not included) with an optional subscription that offers a few perks (character slots, extra bank & personal stash storage purchase, titles extra portraits and emotes and more…)
- We also have a FREE TRIAL, unlimited in time, for every new players wanting to test the game before purchasing it that gives them access to Newhaven Valley, the first dungeon Central Veins and Newhaven City.
PERFORMANCE
At launch, some players encountered performance issues. We have accomplished a lot of work in that regard and the game is in a much better place today. We also have given players more control over their settings to allow them finely tune their experience.

SYSTEMS
- Our main goal has been to ease the composition of groups with our Group Elevated Level that allows lower level players to “catch up” with higher level players in a same group by 5 lvl max. Meaning that low level players will be able to hit red targets and resist red targets attack. It makes grouping with players of various levels more effective.
- Whilst our game is a group based game, and will stay that way, we wanted to ensure it was possible for players to engage in meaningful and comfortable solo adventures. We added the bulletin board tasks to earn experience, and each Ember Veins include a solo loop with named bosses to hunt and special loot to collect.
- The hunting log offers a new progression and collection system that can be done solo or in group.
- Itemisations had seen some serious improvements with the itemisation categorisation and the new set bonuses to armor.
- A mail system is easing trade.
- Travels have been improved with the Well Traveled Road bonus, fast travels from monolith to ember ring, and the cost of ember essence has been reduced. The Newhaven City Ley Pilon offers a collaborative community event as well as some easy fast travel from the city to zones and back.
COMBAT & CLASSES
- Of course, combat and classes have seen numerous changes and improvements: active defense, threat scaling, weapon positional, armor weight, health regen to mention a few… We added new CrowdControl visuals and some ability visuals to improve the overall experience and readability of our strategic combat.
- The main change is the addition of ALCHEMY, our take on “magic”. At level 20, every player, of every class and role, can complete a quest and unlock the capability of empowering every ability with ember essence, each of them having extra power and visuals. For example, the supporter ability First Aid, with alchemy, cost no stamina, and the brigand ability Stun can be casted from a longer range.
CONTENT
- 5 zones have been added since release: Redshore Ridge, Grimstone Canyon, Highland Hills and Grizzled Peak.
- 6 Dungeons and 9 Ember Veins have been added to the game. Several Dungeons and all Ember Veins include a solo loop, sometimes a small group loop.
- At Least 28 new quests of various style and length and 6 crafting quests have been added.
- Players can encounter 7 new creatures in their adventures: the redmane, mukripper, terradile, shrieks, woodclaimed, gaunt and scarabax…
- New art has been added progressively: better visuals and more choices for character haircuts, new armour pieces, many props and the arena in Newhaven Valley.
QUALITY OF LIFE
Many quality of life features and polish have been added every patch. Many of them are direct responses to community feedback. Check the full list below to see everything that has been added so far.
PROGRESSION
The progression of the game and the experience gained has been revised numerous times. Our game is still aimed to be a slow paced game with a meaningful journey to progress through and hopefully many adventures to share with friends. But we smoothed the overall curve, accelerated the beginner experience, and allowed for easier experience gain whilst playing solo or in small groups.
MORE TO COME
We are currently working on Grizzled Peak 2, a new zone aimed to offer challenges and goals to our max level community, the dungeon Forgotten Depths 3 and the epic weapon questlines. This new content will be released sometimes before the end of the year.
