Bag recovery needs to be removed

Im glad they dont have a punishing system like Everquest did with the 10% xp loss, was too much imo. The bag run itsself is totally fine and involves some stratregic maneveuring.

I'm the one who started the thread and I still believe it should be eased or removed.

I don't play the game anymore, but I still read the forums once in a while. Without any heartstone combine with it, the bag runs are huge pain points.
If forces me to play more than I can afford and that's pretty much what killed it for now.

I get where you guys coming from, but I still think we need to be able to log out when we need to.

It's a difficult one, because with all the best planning (e.g. knowing how much play time you have) something that can come up that means you have to log immediately.

I think the best compromise would be some form of ember using hearthstone with an extremely long, say 48 hours, cooldown.

I could live with that, but maybe not 48 hours, that a little too harsh imo. I'd say once per play session, so around 2-4h maybe......just a tought.

I think that would be too convient, people would rely on it as something they can just use when they want. On that basis I hope it wouldn't be implemented. My idea is for a real emergency only option.

Of course these are just our ideas and suggestions. What SHS do is up to them :)

Explain that to me: why you don't want such convenience tools like that? (I'm not talking about unlimited port out here.....)
I think the only thing that does right now, it's preventing people that has less time on hand to play it.

This is a horrible idea in practice and would lead to people just ditching groups mid dungeon.
If it's so horrible, why almost every game has it?
Le me think, maybe cause they understand their demographics......

I understand that it would need some kind of mechanics for replacement tho.

In this game the design direction has been to make the impact of dying more significant. I remember in the early days of WoW watching someone die near a respawn point and run back to the mobs they were fighting only 10 secs ago. There was only the most minimal financial (repair cost) impact if you died.

With EA's design direction the strongest argument in my opinion, for a hearthstone/recall feature, is how do you get out of a dungeon in an emergency; and I mean a real emergency not I forgot to cook the dinner, pick the kids up or just want to stop because I'm bored. So not a convience feature, because in all other games this is what it is.

I fully accept that not everyone will agree with me. There are plenty of games where this sort of convienence is common place and I've played lots of them and enjoyed them. However, for EA with its design direction this is my view.

I understand your vision and EA design decision as well........but imo I don't think it helps the game in any way.
This post has gone for a long time now......I think all arguments has been said. I'll try to not bother you guys with this anymore......lol

You can see that my post was made out of frustration and guilt, but why feeling like that for a game……I still think there’s something that needs to be done.

For me Vanguard: saga of heroes was best of both worlds. You had an XP penalty and recover a major portion of it when recovering your Tombstone.
It made the world still feel dangerous, but was kinda forgiving when it was 3am……
Miss Vanguard SOH so much.

Agreed.

Bags runs are not an engaging mechanic it's just a tedious and old concept, and the fact that you can't leave the dungeon and be teleported outside to a safe area it's bad design or lack of knowledge how to do it.

Why? Because after running for several hours, if real-life calls you can't leave the game until you reach the exit literally walking to it... I mean YOU CAN'T LEAVE THE GAME or you'll be then alone in the middle of a trash pack and forget about your bag and your items.

Also, another bad take about the bag run and the no hearthstone/teleport issue, you have to convince 5 more people to actually get out of the dungeon instead of keep going, so not only you can't leave the game but you're a slave to the group and their willingness to go back and leave.

Give us the option at least to log out and be teleported outside of the dungeon, or into the city or the nearest graveyard or ember thing.

I've been playing since November and this has never been an issue.

I like it the way it is and would hate to be able to just tap my shoes together and be ported to somewhere safe.
You would see a lot more instances of people joining, not getting the loot they want and just rage quitting out.

And then you would want to be able to port someone straight in to replace them.
And if that isn't possible then it would be much harder to keep a group together because you would have someone doing the old "sorry I have to go" all the time.

No thanks.

I agree with Xavure and Colanius here.

This is the #1 reason I don't want to go into the dungeons. Because RL > Game, and I shouldn't be punished for it.

Very well said. Exactly my thoughts & experience.

I also dislike the bag recovery system but i am sure many do like it for some reason even though it's more a pain then anything as you already lose durability and get a debuff from dying plus some players don't want to go back in and get your bag so it's also a pain on others as a extra.

If the Homer Simpson model is so popular, then explain why Classic Hardcore WoW is taking off.

Why is it so horrible to have one game that is not a faceroll?

WoW classic hardcore does a good balance so not a very good comparison... also the idea that hard/annoying = fun is not the same as something being difficult and yet still be enjoyable like Elden Ring.
- btw i don't fully dislike it just that it doesn't really add much fun to the game but more a nuisance so in my eyes i would enjoy the game more without.

It's just the streamer hype, hardcore was never a big thing not in the early 2000s, not even now. If you can see the total population they are a really small minority. And this hype will last with great hopes max a year. It happened with fresh servers, and they died off. Blizz likes to milk the cow whenever the new flavor is hot, today is hardcore and then it will die off immediately.

Pantheon and Ashes of Creation are the most hyped old-school MMOs and they don't have punishing mechanics, and I can bet my butt that they will be sustaining a huge pop, not only a few 100s like Embers.

People like to chill and play relaxed games to escape from reality, Do you want to feel frustrated and have a hard time? go back to work and you'll have it.
